The Breath of the Mystics is an inspiring study of mystical prayer based on the teachings of Eastern Christian Mystics and major contemporary theologians. Fr. George Maloney SJ connects our current revival of contemplative prayer with our Christian roots that go back to the Desert Fathers and Mothers of the 3rd-5th centuries, once Christianity became the “state religion.” It feels good connecting with these Christian ancestors that inspired Thomas Merton, Thomas Keating, and their contemporaries. Years ago, I offered this in-depth study of the Enneagram. People still refer to that experience as one of their most life-changing events. I am excited to offer it again. The Enneagram, as I know it and teach it, leads to understanding and compassion for yourself and others as you live out the call of Jesus to love one another as God loves you. Again this year we will focus on how every type gets along with every other type. Sounds like fun! We will use More Than Your Number, A Christ-Centered Enneagram Approach by Beth and Jeff McCord and The Enneagram and Prayer by Barbara Metz and John Burchill. Led by S. Marcy. Donation: $200.
